Financial Support

Wiseowls Learning are an Ofsted registered Childcare provider. This means that we promote the many ways that families are able to receive financial support with their membership costs. Here we have listed numerous ways to get support with your membership.

Childcare Voucher Scheme

Many parents can save money by using childcare vouchers, which allows you to pay for childcare from your pre-tax salary. The scheme was closed for new applicants on 4 Oct 2018, but Wiseowls Learning will continue accepting them from parents who are already receiving them, so you can still use them if you were signed up before that date. As long as you are working for the same employer, and it still offers them, you can continue to get childcare vouchers.

In a nutshell, if you give up £1000 of your gross salary, which is actually worth approx £700 in your pocket, you will get £1000 worth of vouchers to use at Wiseowls Learning, so you will actually be about £300 better off.

Tax Free Childcare

Tax-free childcare is a recent initiative from the Government, which gives eligible families up to £2,000 free per child towards childcare costs. It was designed to replace the Childcare Vouchers Scheme and launched in April 2017.

The scheme will be available for children under the age of 12, or under 17 for children with disabilities. It gives you up to £2000 per child per year and £4000 if your child has a disability, so eligible families will be able to receive 20% of their childcare costs. For every £8 you pay in, the Government will pay in £2 to pay for childcare from Wiseowls Learning.

Childcare Grant

Childcare Grant helps pay the costs of approved childcare whilst you are studying full time. Income-related benefits, unemployment benefits and housing benefits are not affected by the Childcare Grant. (You must not be in receipt of the Childcare Element of the Working Tax Credit, the Childcare Element of Universal Credit, Tax-free Childcare from HMRC or NHS funded childcare grants at the same time as the Childcare Grant).

You can get up to 85% of your actual childcare costs during term time and holidays. You can get up to £164.70 a week for one child, or £282.36 a week for two or more children. The grant doesn’t usually need to be paid back.
